GIVE
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and
pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me.”
-- Malachi 3:10
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
-- Luke 6:38
WHY WE GIVE
God is generous and so he calls us to be generous and give cheerfully as well. What we do with the portion of what God has so graciously given us shows the world where our hearts are and helps us sincerely proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.
Why does the Bible say so much about giving?
Jesus knew how much we would struggle in the area of our finances. We think it all belongs to us.
The reality is everything in the world including those of us who dwell here belong to the Lord (Psalm 24:1).
Why do we tithe?
The Word of God helps us understand it is a Lordship issue.
Generously giving teaches us to put Christ first in our lives.
Each time we tithe, it becomes a reminder that God is in control and meets our every need.
